Paul Anderson’s Omaha World-Herald Public Pulse

This DID NOT get published in the Omaha World Herald under this policy statement.

Geitner Simmons, the deputy editorial page editor said “Under longstanding World-Herald policy, we don’t run letters or opinion columns from political candidates, incumbents or challengers, during election season. […] Also, we won’t be endorsing in the 2nd District primary.”

Since the date this statement was made, there have been reports referencing opinionated quotes by political challenger Don Bacon, publicized in the Omaha World Herald by Aaron Sanderford. In addition to that, reporter Christopher Burbach publicized an article referencing opinionated quotes from Douglas County Board Member, Joe DiConstanzo.

Response to Ron Roemmich, 04/05/2020

I am responding to Ron Roemmich’s. I would like to share, my response, to a question from the League of Women Voters of Nebraska, regarding their candidate questionnaire.

Question:  What, if anything, should Congress do to protect the U.S. Voting system from foreign influence?

My Response:  As your congressman, I will sponsor legislation, to require, that the federal election, will be done entirely by, vote-by-mail. If and when this would become law, I would encourage the state of Nebraska to join the states of Colorado, Washington, and Oregon who vote entirely by mail. In my view, this would increase our voting systems integrity and security from foreign influence. Here are some other positives, it would increase voter turnout, save the taxpayers money, and allow more time for voter to educate themselves about the candidates and ballot issues, and possibly eliminate the need for a voter ID law.

Response to Lang Anderson, 04/13/2020

I did not vote for Senator Sasse, or president Trump, and for the Nebraska’s Republicans who would like to know why, please keep reading.

President Trump, as I stated in one of my television ads, you did not get my vote because you’re guilty of two impeachable crimes. Those crimes are, tampering with a witness Marie Yovanovitch (11/15/19). And in your July 2019 phone conversation with Ukraine President, Volodymyr Lelensky, you asked, and obtained assistance from a foreign government!

Senator Ben Sasse, here are my reason’s why, you did not get my vote in the Nebraska primary or in the upcoming, November general election.  (1) Matt Innis, your Republican opponent, and I, are veterans!  (2)  You along with Nebraskas four other congressional represenatives, voted to acquit president Trump, of his impeachable crimes.  (3)  The 4.5 million dollars, that’s in your campaign coffer, makes it very clear to me, and many Nebraskans, who you’ve been accountable to,  (the Washington power brokers), not “We the People”, of Nebraska!

Nebraska’s Right to Work Law Committee.

Wayne Brunz, asked me if I had responded to the National Right to Work Committee Candidate survey. My response to this statement was, “No American should be forced to pay a union boss just to get or keep a job.”

       Mr. Brunz,

I will start by saying, as a retired 35 year railroad union member (in good standing), I do agree with your statement, in the NRWC postcard which says, that no American should be forced to pay a union boss, or (union dues), just to keep or get a job.

The first reason that I stand in support of this statement is because, we the (due paying union members), had no vote, as to who our full-time union bosses were, or how long they stayed in their office! The second reason is, a portion of our monthly dues, went to candidates and elected officials, who I did not support! And the third reason is, as a railroad employee, I had no choice, I was forced into belonging to the union!

This is my 12th campaign for elective office, and since 1980, I’ve been a registered Republican. And this (in my view), is the sole reason why, I’ve never received any help or endorsement, from any union! That said, I still remain a strong supporter of America’s unions. I say and mean this because, I know from personal experience that, unions are, and continue to be, the only strong voice, for the working man and woman!

PROTECTING OUR LIBERTIES

As your congressman, I will sponsor legislation that will give protection to any place of worship, who choose to work on ballot issues, or help and assist candidates for elective office. In my view, for any place of worship, the threat of intimidation from the Internal Revenue Service, in having their tax exemption removed, is wrong, and an abuse of power. The separation of church and state, in my view, is not a valid argument, because, you won’t find it in our constitution.

Positive Train Separation

There is no doubt in my mind, that if the PTS system had been in full operation by 1990, with all of America’s freight railroads, my brother Tim and his conductor Don Brannon, would probably still be alive today. As a retired railroader, and as your congressman, I will sponsor legislation, that will require all of America’s freight railroads, and Amtrak, in 2021, to be in full compliance, with the PTS statute, no more delays. I also stand opposed, to reducing train crews, down to one person!

The Republican Party

Proverbs 29:12

“If a ruler listens to lies, all his officials will be wicked.”

The party of Abraham Lincoln, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Ronald Reagan has been effectively “hijacked”, by the” power brokers”.

A.

At the national level, it’s the Trump party.

B.

At the county level, it’s the Petersen party.

C.

At the state level, its the Ricketts Party

In the early part of 1980, after listening to presidential candidate Ronald Reagan on TV, (having no regrets), I registered as a Republican.  To my knowledge, the only time I didn’t vote, would have been, 1982-84 Navy (active duty), and in 2004 when my Navy Reserve unit was sent to Iraq.  When the GOP returns to its 1980 party platform values, then I will rejoin, and get involved in and with the party, at every level.

Bring Home American Soldiers

Don Bacon, Nebraska’s current Second District Congressman, DID NOT Sign this Pledge!

As a veteran of “Operation Iraqi Freedom”, (2004), it is way past time, for the U.S. Congress to make a full and complete withdrawal, of our troops in the Middle East!  The U.S. Congress needs to take a different approach towards, “ Empire Building” around the world. They (congress), has failed to learn what history has taught us. The presidents and members of Congress, (both past and present), have demonstrated their lack of leadership and accountability, when it comes to, sending our troops into “harms way”.
